چکیده

A stationary state replica analysis for a dual neural network model that interpolates between a fully recurrent symmetric attractor network and a strictly feed-forward layered network, studied by Coolen and Viana, is extended in this work to account for finite dilution of the recurrent Hebbian interactions between binary Ising units within each layer. Gradual dilution is found to suppress part of the phase transitions that arise from the competition between recurrent and feedforward operation modes of the network. Despite that, a long chain of layers still exhibits a relatively good performance under finite dilution for a balanced ratio between inter-layer and intra-layer interactions. Feed-Forward Chains of Recurrent Attractor Neural Networks Near Saturation

We perform a stationary state replica analysis for a layered network of Ising spin neurons, with recurrent Hebbian interactions within each layer, in combination with strictly feedforward Hebbian interactions between successive layers. This model interpolates between the fully recurrent and symmetric attractor network studied by Amit el al, and the strictly feed-forward attractor network studie...

Pattern reconstruction and sequence processing in feed-forward layered neural networks near saturation.

The dynamics and the stationary states for the competition between pattern reconstruction and asymmetric sequence processing are studied here in an exactly solvable feed-forward layered neural network model of binary units and patterns near saturation. Earlier work by Coolen and Sherrington on a parallel dynamics far from saturation is extended here to account for finite stochastic noise due to...

STRUCTURAL DAMAGE DETECTION BY MODEL UPDATING METHOD BASED ON CASCADE FEED-FORWARD NEURAL NETWORK AS AN EFFICIENT APPROXIMATION MECHANISM

Vibration based techniques of structural damage detection using model updating method, are computationally expensive for large-scale structures. In this study, after locating precisely the eventual damage of a structure using modal strain energy based index (MSEBI), To efficiently reduce the computational cost of model updating during the optimization process of damage severity detection, the M...

Classifiers with limited connectivity

For many neural network models that are based on perceptrons, the number of activity patterns that can be classified is limited by the number of plastic connections that each neuron receives, even when the total number of neurons is much larger. This poses the problem of how the biological brain can take advantage of its huge number of neurons given that the connectivity is extremely sparse, es...

Mean-field dynamics of sequence processing neural networks with finite connectivity

A recent dynamic mean-field theory for sequence processing in fully connected neural networks of Hopfield-type (Düring, Coolen and Sherrington, 1998) is extended and analyzed here for a symmetrically diluted network with finite connectivity near saturation. Equations for the dynamics and the stationary states are obtained for the macroscopic observables and the precise equivalence is establishe...
